A prototype microwave arterial pulse monitor was evaluated and modified. Evaluation test data was collected from the temporal region of human volunteers using the microwave arterial pulse monitor. Three sets of test signals were developed using this test data. These test signals were used to evaluate the feasibility of using a LMS adaptive noise cancellation filter for reduction of noise artifacts observed in the output of the microwave arterial pulse monitor. A computer program using the LMS algorithm was written and the performance of the LMS filter was evaluated for its effectiveness in removing the unwanted noise. A system model describing the performance characteristics of the test subject-monitor-filter interface is presented. Theses.A prototype microwave arterial pulse monitor was evaluated and modified.
