This thesis includes the screenplay, Lucent, in its entirety along with an analytical essay explaining how the screenplay was conceived. The author combines interdisciplinary discourses to include horror writing, alcohol addiction, mystery and relationships to create a truly unique screenplay. Lucent focus's on a period in the main character's (Lucy) life where she has left a rehabilitation center and is ready to start over with her husband in a new and unfamiliar state. Lucy finds that sobriety is not her only obstacle to overcome when she realizes that her house is haunted by the spirit of a young boy. Following the screenplay the author takes the reader through the creative process of writing it, briefly touching on screenplay structure. With a primary focus of motivation and decision making that goes into writing the story.
